FROM SMALL ACORNS…. - OSET Bikes

FROM SMALL ACORNS….

Just six years ago, the very first OSET Cup attracted eight riders aged between four and five.  Today, that same event can boast over 50 riders across the championship and now has to call itself OSET Cup North as there are 10 other OSET Cups across the UK pulling in the same numbers.

The last round was hosted at Deepcliffe Farm near Silsden in West Yorkshire last weekend.  With 32 youngsters riding four routes  - there were smiles all round as the finishers medals and trophies were accompanied by a tube of smarties kindly donated by Rachel and Dave Pickles.

Simon said: “It was a lovely sunny, autumn day and with observers for every section it made for a quick trial, leaving everyone plenty of time for a bit of a play on their bikes afterwards, including much riding over a car!

“The kids have really come on this year and we expect most of them to move up a level as their ability improves.”

Casey Davey and Lucas Creed were crowned white route E and D -Class champions.  They were joined by Sam Carter and Alfie Carney who bagged second while Jensen Fox and Finlay Hoyle made up the respective podiums.

Intermediate winners were Henry Wright (E-Class), Tyler Atkinson (D-Class) and Dylan Ratcliffe (C-Class).  Second went to Joshua Whitting  (E) Oliver Arkwright (D) and Finn Potter (C), while third was Henry Moore and Jonny Fannon.

Hard route champion was Will Sagar, who has progressed through the routes every year and has an eye on entering nationals next year.  He was joined by Thomas Wright who entered his first national the day after the Deepcliffe event and Toby Shaw in third.

The elite route was ridden by Myles Hutchinson (2016 British D-Class Medium Wheel Champion on the OSET 24.0) Dominic Horne, Jasper Fox and Alex Horne.  All of the elite riders compete at British National level and all started their riding careers with the OSET Cup North.

As the OSET Cup moves into its seventh year – OSET welcomes any ideas parents may have for next year.  Please email all ideas to michelle@osetbikes.com.
