Thanks to everyone else who picked up a board.
And a massive thankyou to Bruce & Liz Bolton for allowing us the use of Hobs Hole, for all their help, advice & support.
33 riders braved the winter conditions at Hobs Hole. The sections were laid out Saturday with some new bits added from our last visit in spring 2022. Fortunately the sandy terrain and frost meant no one got too muddy!
The white route had a good balance of 7 riders. 4 OSET mounted and 3 petrol. On the petrol bikes, Amelie Godfrey has just moved off her OSET 24.0 and onto a Beta 125. As a consequence sensibly dropped down from the yellow route. Amelie looked composed around the course and took the win with 7 marks. Second place was a new rider with us, Kayden Burke, who had a fantastic day out. 3rd place was another young lady, Lia Jones on her first trial onboard a Beta 80 medium wheel.
The OSET cup guys were headed by Arlo Phipps. Arlo took the win with 31 marks. Second was William West, who put in an improved performance from round 2. 3rd place was Jessica Herbert. Jess had some great rides from what I seen and is getting better all the time. Archie Mallin was in 4th on his little OSET 12.5 and his first ever trial! The white route maybe a little more challenging than I intended looking at the scores but all 7 kids got their heads down and had some great rides.
The yellow route is always our busiest, with 11 riders overall. Kasia Pekala – Dayment was OSET cup and overall winner on the route. Kasia now with a comfortable lead in the championship. 2nd on the OSET’s was Thomas Herbert on 3 marks behind Kasia. Harper Oliver had a great ride with 3rd overall, well done Harper!
On the petrol’s, Harvey Reynolds took his TY80 out for a spin on the yellows and lost an impressive 19 marks. Brothers Charlie & Harry Brittain were 2nd & 3rd, with Jake Stokes just behind Harry.
The new yellow/blue 50/50 route had 3 riders. Two OSET mounted and one petrol. Daisy Brookes took the win with some great riding. Daisy’s confidence is high and she was trying the red sections by the end. Oliver Edmunds moved up to this route too, having not been out much lately Oliver did well getting round and having a taste of some blue sections.
Another new rider with us, Noah Willerton piloted his Beta 80 around Hobs Hole to a score of 35, just a few behind Daisy.
Jack Brown got the win on his OSET 24.0 on the blues, this time coming out on top in a battle with Oliver Bird. Oliver looks to have the winter series win bagged up now after attending all 3 rounds. 3rd place was Harry Craig who decided to move up from the yellow/blue 50/50’s at the last minute. A whisker behind was Josh Wood in 4th place.
Our Jack had some very talented competition on the blue/red 50/50 route in Daisy Craig. Jack had some great rides with a lot of silly dabs! Jack ended the day asking to go practicing the week after so it’s not all bad. Daisy halved Jack’s score with 21 marks lost with some great rides for the British girl’s C class rider.
Kayleigh Rich had a composed ride around on the red route with just 3 marks lost. Kayleigh making setting up for me difficult in the future! Zach Reynolds was 2nd place just in front of his buddy Hayden Pimley. Hayden may have been unlucky to not get the 2nd place with some controversy on section 7! Just 5 points separated the boys in the end. Sam Lefevre was next up. Sam is flying on his Beta 80 medium wheel and will no doubt be a force again in this years British youth trials championships as Sam chases another title. Joseph Baker was 5th, really pushing himself on the red route. Joseph and his Dad are two of the nicest guys you will meet and we really appreciate them, and all our riders in making the journey to ride with us.
Thank you all so much from the Rich family! Us 4 hope you all had a great day out.
The final round is at Breakheart Quarry on Feb 19th. Booking in is open now.
