D.Y.T.C / MK Off Road Round 4
OSET Cup West Midlands/West Mids Youth Trials Champs
26.6.22 – Earl Shilton Trials Club.
Huge thankyou to our observers. Claire Pimley, Mark Dixon, the Wood family, Tim Hudd, Bev Cumberland, Laura Herbert & Sarah Cumberland.
Also to our sponsors MK Off Road, Woodrobes, Central Scanning & of course OSET Bikes.
One huge thankyou must also to Paul Wareing. Without Paul, this event would have been impossible for us to stage. Paul spent ages chatting with me, relaying messages, he helped strim the venue and lent me a drill for plotting the markers.
We are very fortunate and grateful to Earl Shilton Trials Club for letting us use their amazing venue, the Yennards, for round 4 of our championship. Coincidently, only 5 miles down the road from Triumph HQ who of course recently purchased OSET bikes. It’s good to hear Triumph are very keen on OSET cup’s, and the news will hopefully benefit us all and most of all, the sport of trials.
We had a flurry of late entries to make this our busiest round so far! 44 riders entered & it’s amazing to see. The white route had 12 OSET mounted riders, plus one adult rider on an OSET 24! The top 3 in this class are really pushing on. Seth Jenkin was the winner again, dropping just 1 point. Emily Thompson continues to impress with her great riding, dropping 7. Tommy Sturgess was just one behind Emily. It could go either way with these 3 as they are all so talented and so close in the scores. It was great to see Ruben Howling back with us, Ruben was 4th. Newcomers Esmae Jenson and Chloe Johnson were next up. Huw Edmunds was 7th, followed closely by Ruby Wareing on her beautiful new pink OSET 20R.
The yellow route was the biggest class again with 16 kids. It was close at the top between two young ladies & team MK Off Road riders. Daisy Brookes edged the win by two points over Kasia Pekala – Dayment. Section 2 was the decider with Daisy managing to go clean. Great to see Taylor Jempson again, and he was in 3rd. Daisy’s little bro Harry was in 4th place, and Oliver Edmunds in 5th as 12 points separated the top 5.
On the petrol bikes, Jake Stokes took the win, with Flynn Meredith on his first trial in 2nd. Both riders new to the sport and enjoying a ride round Earl Shilton.
The blue route was low on entries in the OSET cup class. 3 riders battled it out with Woodrobes Josh Wood taking the win with some great riding on his OSET 20. Oliver Bird wasn’t to far back in 2nd, and 3rd place was 5 year old Harvey Reynolds. Harvey is improving all the time and had some great rides round ESTC.
On the petrol bikes, our son Jack Rich had a narrow win over his mate George Wareing, by just a point. Completing the top 3 was another friend of the boys Max Hastings, who himself was only 8 points from the win. Joseph Baker, Finley Hudd and Hayden Cope were the next 3, each of the boys cleaning some of the sections with ease.
Red route, OSET cup just had the two riders this time. Sam Lefevre is unstoppable in this class and again took the win dropping just 16. Samuel Millmore and family made the trip up again from Cornwall and had some great rides, especially on section 5. Both boys preparing hard now for the upcoming youth British Championships.
On the petrol bikes, championship leader Zach Reynolds had an unfortunate crash on section 6, lap 1 down a tricky steep bank. Unfortunately Zach has fractured his wrist and we wish him all the best. No doubt Zach will be back soon riding as fantastic as ever. Kayleigh Rich took the win, dropping just 3 points. Kayleigh had a lovely day riding round with little Harry Brookes & friends. Marcus Hastings on home turf was second, with Hayden Pimley in 3rd, and the new championship leader.
Apologies I couldn’t mention everyone. But each and every child who rode was a superstar and Caz and I hope you all had a great day out.
Another little mention for the girls – we had 11 young ladies riding with us! Great to see the girls getting involved with the sport too.
Our tour moves to Howard’s Wood near Stourbridge in the West Midlands for round 5 of the championship on Sunday, July 17th.
