Well what a weekend that was at TrialGB with Ripon District Motor Club and all courtesy of ROCK'N'HOP. If Carlsberg did Trials venues this would be it !! The club in conjunction with OSET CUP NORTH ran a YOUTH SUPERSTARS TRIAL with riders coming from all over the country. We even had riders from Jersey and the Isle of Wight !!! Camping was available, again courtesy of ROCK'N'HOP and the field was packed out with eager young riders chomping at the bit to get going.
A mixture of petrol and electric took on the event and some 77 riders were entered. We even had a reserve list at one point. The course was marked out like a mini TRIALGP with OSET branded directions arrows with Ripon and OSET Start and Ends Cards. All the sections were taped and it looked incredible. The aim was to make the youngsters feel part of the TRIALGB weekend and by all accounts we managed to do just that.
Riders took on 8 sections over 3 laps and a punch card system was used to help get the results done in time for the awards later in the day. Riders were sent in groups to different sections to start to avoid queueing and this worked well in the main considering the number of riders. Smiling faces were abundant everywhere and not just from the riders. It was a real family atmosphere !!! 77 riders plus siblings, parents, grandparents and spectators increased the crowd and every section was busy. Parents cheered on each others kids and there was some superb riding across the age groups and routes. Given the spread of riders we had to put in 5 different routes to cater for all abilities from absolute beginner to British Youth Championship level.
Young Eddie Charlton took the win on the Red Route or Hard Course, beating all the petrol bikes on his OSET 20R, no mean feat for the youngster !!
Sam Lefevre took 3rd place overall on the Blue Elite Route on his OSET 24R and was not far off the win against 125cc petrol bikes. Joshua Tate took 7th on the same route and all credit to him riding an OSET 20R against the big wheel 125's.
Rocco Watson came out on top on the White Route for beginners with Edward Wainright taking 2nd and first E Class. Truly some fantastic riding from everybody.
There were a lot of really happy kids at the end and some very tired but proud parents. Let me know if you want more of the same next year at the same venue. You never know it might be even bigger and better !!!!!!
